The Hotel

“I love this hotel so much!  Whenever I am here I feel so happy seeing the Blumschein Family who are like old friends to me.  The atmosphere is so cosy and warm that is doesn’t really feel like a hotel in some ways because I feel at home here. There are so many things I like to do that I never get tired of!  Every year at Christmas me and my family take a magical sleigh ride into the valley and it is beautiful because it looks like the trees have been dipped in sugar. Every horse has sleigh bells which makes me feel like I am on Santa’s sleigh. We are always wrapped up in about five layers of blankets so we never feel cold!  I love being surrounded by the forest and sometimes I have seen a deer or a mountain goat.  On Christmas Eve, I love the festive evening and walking with the other children holding a candle before the tree gets lit!  On New Years Eve I love the live music and dancing until Midnight.  Then my favourite part of the evening is when the Chimney Sweep brings around his little pig that everyone can pet for good luck all year!  My happy memories make me look forward to returning to the Gruner Baum every year! “

Insider’s tip with a bit of tradition
True connoisseurs have known about the Grüner Baum for almost a century. There is a long tradition of hospitality in the Kötschach Valley. Our Hoteldorf has really “grown” in the last few years and has a very special charm.

Formerly a renowned country inn, the current Main Building was constructed by our great-grandmother in 1925 and today has cosy guest rooms with all the comforts, a lift, reception, library, Kids Lounge & Miniclub, a cosy bar K & K Hofapotheke with an open fire place and a variety of small lounges and restaurants.

In 1927 the Hoteldorf was extended around the romantic and traditional Cottage (Landhaus), which offeres homely rooms and apartments. In the years to follow the Hunter’s Cottage (Jägerhaus), formerly set up as a hunting lodge by Archduke Johann, was adapted and the Flori- and Kösslerhaus were set up.

The largest house of the Hoteldorf is the Kösslerhaus. In addition to the guest rooms, you will find a thermal indoor pool, the Thermal- & Spa Department and the hotel’s own Beauty Farm where we will pamper our guests with treatments by “A natural difference” and “L’Occitane”.
