Even in the 19th century the Grüner Baum Resort Hotel was a popular place for notable guests of the health-resort Bad Gastein. In 1831 Archduke Johann, laid the foundation for a hunting lodge in the Kötschachtal valley above Bad Gastein. In the course of the past century the Grüner Baum Resort Hotel became an exclusive address for notable health-resort-guests of the health-resort Gastein. Then, strolling in free nature had become chic.

The destiny of the Grüner Baum Resort Hotel always was impressed of strong personalities. Anna Hopfer-Lindinger-Linsinger, the founder of the Hotel was a woman full of energy and endurance. In 1913 she acquired ownership of the Grüner Baum Resort Hotel together with her husband. The original hunt-housing was developed in the years of the 30′s into a restaurant. The current resort had his origin in the years of the 50′s. The Grüner Baum Resort Hotel becomes a first-class address and an enrichment of the health-resort Bad
Gastein. Holiday-makers and notabilities feel charmed of the gastronomy and the scenery.

Famous actors, sportsmen, singers, artists, politicians – everybody loves it here. From Empreror Franz Joseph to Bruno Kreisky, from Luis Trenker to Niki Lauda, from the Shah of Persia to Richard von Weizsäcker: whoever once was a guest in Grüner Baum knows what excellent gastronomy is.
We are also delighted, not just because of our guests from past times, that we’ve had the pleasure to welcome recent celebrities as our guests in Grüner Baum. Jude Law stayed with us for a week while on a skiing holiday and since he fell in love with Grüner Baum, he will return soon. We are also proud that Lasse Kjus, Stefan Eberharter, Pepi Strobl, Pirmin Zurbriggen, Markus Wasmeier, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands (she celebrated her Golden Wedding Anniversary with us), Count Walderdorf, Alessandro Gassmann, Vanessa Mae, Francine Jordi, Hera Lind, Fritz Wepper, Gerhard Zemann, Wilfried Haslauer, Heilwig Pfanzelter, Eckhart Witzigmann, Gerti Senger and last but not least Kathy Ha
ll (the US Ambassador to Austria) chose our hotel for their stay in Bad Gastein.
Today Maximilian and his wife Sigrid are leading the hotel – of course with lots of support from the “seniors”: Monica & Hannes Blumschein have earned great acknowledgement for the excellent and personal service and were selected Hotelier of the Year in 1988 and were awarded the Welcome Trophy” 1991.
